This paper will investigate the role the media plays in shaping the audience’s opinions and perception. It will also shed light on the way Islam and Muslims are represented and portrayed in the western cinema. The basic purpose of this study is to examine the hidden messages of the western movie and the religious conflict therein. My paper consists of analytic review sections: the first review section will introduce the Marrakesh film festival in how it’s formed and founded.
The theoretical part where I will look into numerous theories that aim at explaining the media and the practical part involves the film analysis to find out how the Muslims are visualized in the western cinema by choosing Layla M film that has been selected to display in the Marrakesh film festival this year.
