As an international student there are many reasons for me to choose Australia as my destination for higher education. It is the 3rd most popular international student destination and provides world class education and training quality. As of today, over 2,500,000 international alumni of Australian institutions are making a difference around the world. Besides having 5 out of 30 best cities in the world, the country has 8 out of 100 top ranked world universities and also offers a range of courses in 1,100 institutions that are registered to provide education to international students on student visa. One of the main reasons behind choosing Australia for me are the protections and right ensuring services by Australian government that make sure that the international students receive high education standards with proper regulation of their funds and social security. The ESOS act 2000 (Education Service for Overseas students) and National Code of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers of Education to Overseas Students provide nationally consistent standards for providers of education and training for international students and make sure that the quality of education for international students is maintained. Then there is TPS (Tuition Protection Service) under ESOS legislative framework that guarantees the security of our educational fees and course completion. The fee we pay to the college or university is refunded through TPS in case the institution is not able to provide the complete course. The education system for International students in Australia is so efficient that they are required to study with an institution and in a course that is registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). CRICOS registration guarantees that the selected course and the institution meet the high standards expected by international students. Along with the ESOS Act and National Code, there are also regulatory and quality assurance organizations for VET institutions and higher education. These government organizations are responsible for registration/reregistration of institutions and accreditation/re-accreditation of courses where ASQA (Australian Skills Quality Authority) promotes quality training so that students, employers, and industry can have confidence in Australia’s training sector and TESQA (Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency) is Australia’s independent national quality assurance and regulatory agency for higher education. Australia also has special health insurance for international students called Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). This insurance is required while residing in Australia on a student visa; this will cover unexpected sickness or any emergency case.

Similarly, the fee structures of the universities and colleges in Australia are affordable for the international students like me who come from developing countries such as Nepal. What I really liked during my research was the kindness and generosity of Australian Government for international students that they annually invest $200,000,000 only on international scholarships. Moreover, an international student in Australia is also allowed to do part time work i.e. 40 hours a fortnight to better support their financial condition in Australia during education.

Quite interestingly, along with being the 3rd most popular abroad study destination, Australia is also a leading expert in research and technology where over 1,000,000,000 people around the world rely on Australian discoveries and innovations every day. Being an IT pursuer, the technological breakthroughs and modern advancements in Australia are what attract me the most.

Australia is a peaceful and safe country for international students where unlike other countries the crime rate in Australia is far less; the accommodation is affordable and transportation system is quite reasonable and convenient for international students. The country has a multicultural and friendly environment and the weather is also favorable as it is similar to that of Nepal despite being in an alternate time zone so it would be easy for me to adapt in Australia. Living and studying under the comfortable and adaptable environment of Australia, I will receive the best education under properly regulated systems. On top of all, the degree obtained from Australia will be globally recognized which will also help me get international exposure when I finally begin chasing my career. It was also quite interesting to read several student stories on the official website of Australian Government that strengthened my decision of studying in Australia even more.
