Auschwitz-Birkenau opened in 1940 by the Nazi Party in Poland.

The Nazi Party started this concentration camp to hold the majority of the Prisoners at the time. Auschwitz was split into two parts Auschwitz and Auschwitz II ( Birkenau). 90,000 prisoners were held in Auschwitz and in Auschwitz ll it held the laborers who majority worked all day. Auschwitz held and killed many Jews, gypsies,and many more. Thousand were killed, starved, studied on, and gassed. New arrivals in Auschwitz-Birkenau were talked off a train that transported them and were filed as Laborers or “others”. They others would be rushed in a line and moved to a room where it was a “shower room” but they would soon realize when the light turned off that it was no shower. Thousands would be led to these rooms and be gassed and die in ten minutes.

The Nazi believed in a quote that is on a famous fence in Auschwitz “Work will set you free” in German. The Laborers would we led in another line into a pajama room and hair cutting session. Each prisoner would have their head shaved and get straight to work.
