In body two, the contemporary use of theterm will be thoroughly researched, analysed and summarised. Firstly, the research section willconcentrate on presenting information about recent events in which the term has had an influenceon international relations between states.
Recent events will focus on Brexit and the U.S. embassy’srelocation. Boris Johnson, a British politician, reasoned that: “a slow and invisible process of legalcolonisation, as the EU infiltrates just about every area of public policy” had been occurring(Rozenberg, 2016). As with the U.S.’s decision to relocate its embassy, the aftermath of the generalassembly’s vote casts a shadow on the effects that international governance has on nationalsovereignty (Anderson & Schwartz, 2017).
Secondly, the information will be investigated to pinpointhow sovereignty influenced current events. Finally, points one and two will be encapsulated to inorder to deduce the modern impact of the term. Nikki Haley, U.S. ambassador to the U.N., argued the following: “TheUnited States will remember this day in which it was singled out for attack in the General Assembly,for the very act of exercising our right as a sovereign nation.” (2017).
