After that, I will talk about where and how electricity is generated. Lastly, I will talk about the different types of electricity. The first point of my paper I want to discuss is what our lives were like before electricity. Life before electricity was very different from life now. Before electricity, people used kerosene lamps, candles, gas lamps, and fireplaces to have light after dark. After dark, the things you could do were limited.

There wasn’t any street lights either so you couldn’t go and play outside with lights. Cool pantries and meat safes kept meat and other food cool while keeping flies and insects away. You had to cook over open fires and that was how they stayed warm. Next, I will talk about the invention, improvements, and uses of electricity. The father of electricity is Benjamin Franklin.

He had one of the brightest and sharpest minds for his time, he made many discoveries including a type of glasses. Many scientists knew about him and his static electricity experiment. Benjamin Franklin discovered electricity had a positive and negative elements that electricity flowed through. He believed lightning was another form of electricity. Many people know about his famous kite experiment, where he tied a metal key to the kite string to conduct the electricity. The electricity from the storm clouds flowed down the string and shocked him.

Later, in 1879, Thomas Edison invented the light bulb. Some people think Benjamin Franklin didn’t invent electricity. Some say a scientist named William Gilbert established the science and proof of electricity and magnetism. Gilbert and another guy named Thomas Browne were credited qith being the first ones to use the term ‘electricity.’
