Hello Professor Heather and classmatesReading on to this discussions research, I came across a sentence that said “hours in child care fade into insignificance by third grade” (Shellenbarger,2005).
That particular sentence, made me think of when I was dating a women that had a 2 year old child, we spent about a year together where I would have times playing with her kid. It’s been almost 3 years since I had any contact with her child. A month ago, she asked him if he knew who was coming to visit, and he said my name. This makes me believe that the amount of time a child stay in day care will definably have an effect on the future of the child. So a good research on day care is advisable if you want to opt for that type of arrangements for you.A child will never lose its connection to his/her mother, if the mother is sensitive and caring to the child’s need. The research conducted by National Institute for Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), revealed some good news which implied that a good day care a child can experience, the better he would develop in math our languages for example.
However, there are risks, like behavior problems and aggressiveness.Unfortunately, we leave in a country where good day care comes on a high price so majority of our population relies on low quality day care. A good day care should instigate a child’s creativity and motivation and should also encourage attempts without being afraid of failing. My daughter did spend time in a day care in Brazil where she leaves, she is 9 now and have no aggression toward anyone or behavior issues that I know of, she is a very good student. But I must point out that the day care she was one was a very good one, we were very lucky and we never neglect her and her accomplishments, always trying our best as parents to motivate her more.w.c.
