As the proposed study comprises of two sub-groups, a stratified random sampling method will be employed. Variables of the studyThe variables of the study are test-anxiety as the independent variable and academic achievement as the dependent variable.Research instrumentThe research instrument for the proposed study will be adopted from Abbolghasemi, 1988. The instrument is a test measuring the anxiety caused due to pressure of examination .The research instrument will be adapted to Indian context. The research tool is a self-administered 25-items test used to determine the level of test anxiety among students and take 15 minutes to complete. Each statement on the TAI is followed by a four -point Likert-type scale (never = 0, rarely = 1, some time = 2, and most of the time = 3).

The minimum score on each of the twenty-five questions is zero and the maximum score for the whole test is seventy-five. TAIs’ score categories are based on normal distribution, whereby a score M-1SD (Mean? 1 Standard Deviation) denotes mild test anxiety and a score of M +1SD as having high test-anxiety (Chapell, 2005). High scores indicate higher test anxiety. Academic Achievement: The respondents will be asked to provide their last year results.Reliability and validity of the research instrumentThe study will utilize a pretested and established research instrument adopted from Abbolghasemi, 1988 but the same will be changed to Indian context. However to establish the reliabity and validity of the modified instrument cronchbas alpha will be calculated.

Procedure of data collectionThe information regarding number of senior secondary schools in South Delhi will be collected from the district education office. Then the schools for the survey will be identified. The principals of the identified schools will be contacted and permission for conducting the survey will be sought. After the grant of the permission students will be contacted for the study. The students will be made to sit on their respective seats and the test will be thoroughly explained to them. The teacher of the class will requested for help to conduct the test. The research instrument will be then administered to then students.

The filled questionnaire will be taken back from them and kept for data analysis.Statistical Techniques usedMean, standard deviation, a t-test will be employed. Pearson correlation coefficient will be used to determine the relationship between test-anxiety as the independent variable and academic achievement as the dependent variable. Cronbach Alpha for the study will be calculated.Delimitation of the study • The study will be delimited to the senior secondary schools of South Delhi only.• The study will be further delimited to five senior secondary schools of South Delhi only.• The study will be delimited to the students of 9th and 10thclass currently studying in the schools of South Delhi only.• The study will be further delimited to the age group of 15 -19 years only.• The study will be delimited to collection of data on test anxiety using a descriptive survey study method only.
