” In Oedipus Rex, Oedipus responds to injustice. He is very loyal to Thebes, but some people haven’t been so loyal to him. He finds out something that has been hidden from him for so long and searches for justice. Throughout the story he looks for the murderer of the past king. Due to some questions that unfold he starts to question things about his self and his life. He found out about his real parents and how he had been abandoned when he was an infant. He was cursed from the beginning, he had been told he was going to kill his father and marry his mother, which he found out shockingly, was true.

His search brings him to tremendous shame, but he wanted to find out his who he was, his true identity. Although Oedipus succeeds and finds out the truth, he then blinds himself, leaving the story to a tragic ending. Oedipus’ understanding of justice was finding out who he really was. He also wanted to know what purpose he had. In the story from Oedipus’ perspective he said he was told, “I’d kill my father.” This tells that the twist in his life was fated to happen.

Oedipus believes he should know about his childhood and everything that went on. He did not have any idea of what the story could have been till he found out. It was injustice that he had not been told any of the truth.Oedipus was definitely successful in searching for justice. He found out the story as a whole. One of the things he found out was that Polybus and Merope were not his real parents. Another thing he found out was that Jocasta was his wife and mother .

. . . He ended up finding out that Jocasta had actually abandoned him when he was an infant. According to the story she said, “Do away with him.

” After Jocasta heard the reality and realized child was Oedipus, she hung herself. In result to that Oedipus gouges his eyes out, and becomes blind. He finds justice but suffers from it all.Oedipus learns a huge lesson and the significance of the search for justice. He learns about his whole identity. He learns that the truth can be too much to cope with.

Oedipus felt terribly about his actions, and knew they were not moral. He punished himself by blinding himself. Even after being blind, he could clearly see that getting justice has its own downsides too and that there is a price to pay when getting justice. Oedipus is the character that goes through injustice.

He wanted to find out who he really was and if he had a purpose. He searched for justice and didn’t stop until he new everything that was hidden from him. Then he learned the significance of the search for justice. Oedipus was an example of someone that went through life with lies and not knowing the truth about their own self.
