In a world where students are competing in a global marketplace, there is a significant focus on how we can best prepare our students. Technology is expanding faster than we are approaching them.
One perceived edge that our students have is their ability to problem solve creatively. Some educators feel that educational technologies provide an opportunity to build on a surrounding of innovation and discovery. Other believe that the host of the issue and lack of control associated with technology can provide more challenges than benefits.Technology use is not an end unto itself. Rather it requires critical thinking and imagination. The goal is for students to acquire the ability to combine bodies of knowledge for a deeper understanding of a given topic. Technology has pushed the boundaries of what teachers and educators can conceive. Classes can video chat around the world with a click of a button and students can create digital portfolios to be shared across the internet and multiple students can edit someone’s document.
