Leadership situations and their team members. One

Leadership NameInstitutionInstructorCourseDate Leadership Leadership TacticsLeadership requires certain tactics in addressing different situations that may affect their team.

Some of the tactics may be employed to guide the team members to the desired goals or to overcome difficult situations (Northouse, 2016). Since team members look upon the leaders for guidance, team leaders must ensure that they employ successful tactics that will provide the best results and be beneficial to the team (Northouse, 2016). I have dealt with two different leaders in the past that used different tactics to influence situations and their team members. One nurse manager used pressure to get things done and would threaten to report poor performers. This tactic worked well but the members were not comfortable working with the nurse manager because of the fear he had instilled to the members (Northouse, 2016). The nurse director was different and used to inspire the team members. This tactic encouraged and motivated team members who were comfortable around the nurse director and could even communicate with her in times of challenges who would in turn help the team members (Northouse, 2016).

This increased the confidence of the team members and resulted in improved performance, which did not change even after she left. Inspiration tactics were successful as they were well received by the team members who were motivated to perform their duties (Northouse, 2016). Inflicting pressure on the team members was not successful and did not guarantee continued productivity. This tactic can be used to change a situation but can face resistance from the team members (Northouse, 2016).As a leader, I can critically appraise situations to make sure I select appropriate tactics for influencing a given situation by having a good relationship with my team members (Northouse, 2016). This will enable me to involve the team members in the decision-making process and help me in understanding the team members better (Northouse, 2016).

Understanding other members will enable me to determine the best tactics that will work best and lead to positive results. A good relationship will enable a leader to have information on what factors to consider in addressing a particular situation and what tactics can negatively impact the performance of their members (Northouse, 2016).ReferencesNorthouse, P.
