Managing with half of them between the age

Managing Health Issues through ExerciseNameInstitutionInstructorCourseDate Managing Health Issues through ExerciseRegular physical exercise has been indicated to help individuals attain healthier lifestyles, which is important in health improvement by strengthening their immune system and preventing the development of certain illnesses (Jarvis, 2015). Some of the health issues, which can be prevented and managed through physical exercise, include diabetes, heart disease, and arthritis (Jarvis, 2015).

These diseases are associated with an increased body weight, which can be controlled through exercise. With an increased body weight, the cholesterol level increases affecting the pumping of blood by the heart muscle, which can lead to heart disease (Jarvis, 2015). Increased body weight also affects the blood sugar, which is directly connected to the development of diabetes. Arthritis is a disease, which affects the joints causing pain and stiffness. However, with regular exercise the development of this disease can be reduced (Jarvis, 2015). According to the Center for Disease Control, over 1 million individuals were diagnosed with diabetes in 2015 with half of them between the age of 40 and 60 years. Some of the risk factors associated with diabetes include smoking, being overweight, and lack of regular exercise, which is important in maintaining a healthy weight (CDC, 2018).

In the same year, over 7 million individuals admitted in hospitals were due to the diabetes disease. CDC also states that over 30 million individuals in the United States are suffering from diabetes (CDC, 2018). According to the American Heart Association, over 12 percent of adults between the age of 40 and 60 had been affected by cardiovascular diseases in 2015. Further information from CDC indicates that 1 in every 4 deaths in the United States are as a result of the heart disease (CDC, 2018). About 600,000 individuals die every year in the United States due to heart disease.

Due to the increase in the aged population, the arthritis disease has been on the increase with over 20 million individuals suffering from the disease in 2015 (CDC, 2018). CDC has also projected the prevalence of arthritis to reach an estimated 78 million, which is 26% in U.S. adults by 2040 (CDC, 2018). Measures that a nurse would take to assist clients with health promotion measures to incorporate exercise and physical activity into their lives include understanding the risks associated to these illnesses for different individuals. This will help a nurse in making informed recommendations on health improvement and prevention of the certain diseases.

One of the measures would be a proper time management which will enable the client schedule a good exercise time which he/she is comfortable with based on the day to day activities schedule (Estes, 2014). An analysis of the financial ability should also be taken into consideration to determine the best exercises to engage in and the available facilities. Although regular exercise may be done at home, it is important for a client to enroll in a training facility to assist in monitoring and proper recommendations based on the results attained after a certain period (Estes, 2014). A nurse may also consider the integration of technology in the training program to help in tracking and reminding the client about the exercise program.

Technology can also help in improving communication between clients and the healthcare professionals, which is important in providing guidance to the client (Estes, 2014). Some of the activities that I would recommend to clients include physical activities, which do not need any equipment such as jogging, and sporting activities as these are easy and cheap to access (Estes, 2014). Clients can engage in these activities two times in a week with rest days in between the exercises to give the body time to rest and rejuvenate (Estes, 2014). Cooperation from the client can be gained by having an effective communication process, which will enable the client to give any opinions related to the exercise program and be able to provide feedback on the results of the training program.

This will also help me in encouraging the client as exercise is quite challenging which can lead to some clients dropping out of the program (Estes, 2014).ReferencesJarvis, C. (2015). Physical Examination and Health Assessment.
