Marriage is supposed to be what people say the happiest day of their lives, nevertheless some don’t get that opportunity because of the practice of child marriage.The definition of child marriage is “a formal marriage or informal union entered into by an individual before reaching a certain age, specified by several global organizations such as UNICEF as minors under the age of 18.

” The UNICEF stands for The United Nations Children’s Fund which is an organizations that provides assistance to mothers and their children. Child marriage is a big issue throughout the united states since it not illegal in all the states which it should be. As long as you have a parents give their consent you may get married before the age of eighteen thus for being legal. Now there’s always people in the world that many disagree with it being illegal and may wish for it to be legal. Most would say there are many advantages to child marriage such as “Early marriage gives more time for couples to pursue their career comfortably and plan a child soon after.” In addition to this “For women, an early marriage is safer in terms of pregnancy.” As women grow older it becomes difficult to conceive and for most people dream of having a family together so yes sometimes that may lead to a divorce if they can’t conceive so this is why many would say this would be a good reason to get married at a young age. Although people might see some advantages in child marriages there are more disadvantages to child marriage that may lead to a difficult lifestyle.

According to studies “young girls are usually married by an older man thus providing her in laws and husband is much stronger then her and she has less control then they do.” Child marriage may lead to domestic violence, the UNICEF states “women who marry early are most likely to be beaten or threatened, and more likely to believe that husbands might sometimes be justified in beating his wife.” Getting married a young age you might not the difference in the right or wrong in a relationship so when getting beat she might think she was the cause of it or she did something wrong and now getting beat are the consequences. Child brides are neither physically or emotionally ready to become wives and mothers.In numerous countries there are numerous laws restricting child marriage but not all have strict consequences and all should.

Child marriage is a big issue so it should have strict consequences not just a slap on the wrist and then do it again. Child Marriage Restraint Act 1929 was passed on September 28, 1929 in India, they fixed the age for marriage so now they girls could get married at the age of fourteen and boys at eighteen which later was changed to eighteen for girls and twenty one for boys.
