Recommendations for Improved Reading
A helpful recommendation for improved reading and learning would be a better understanding of one’s thought process which will help develop better learning strategies (Gazzaniga, Ivry, ; Mangun, 2013). The student can keep a learning journal, which can help her to monitor her own thinking process and reflect on what she learned on the book (Gazzaniga, Ivry, ; Mangun, 2013). She can also review strategies that were successful and which helped her in remembering what she read. The student can also develop reading habits which are helpful to her and which help her in understanding and remembering what she learned (Gazzaniga, Ivry, ; Mangun, 2013). Reflective thinking is also helpful for encouraging deeper understanding and remembrance (Gazzaniga, Ivry, ; Mangun, 2013). Since the current reading skills have not been successful for the student, the student can try new learning approaches, as the current approaches may not be favorable to her (Gazzaniga, Ivry, ; Mangun, 2013).
