NRSE 4550Levels of EvidenceDirections: Search the OHIO University online databases for 2 research articles.
Each must be a different level of evidence on the research hierarchy. Answer the following questions: Article 1APA reference:Nedel, W. L., Deutschendorf, C.
, & Rodrigues Filho, E. M. (2017). High-Flow Nasal Cannula in Critically Ill Subjects With or at Risk for Respiratory Failure: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. Respiratory Care, 62(1), 123-132. doi:10.
4187/respcare.04831Is this study quantitative or qualitative? How do you know?In this article, the study performed was a quantitative research study. The experiment used measurability, which related high-flow nasal cannula with non-invasive ventilation related to standard oxygen treatmentStatistical approaches were used to analyze the numerical data that was collected. The experiment was randomized controlled to avoid unfairness. Where does your study fall on the levels of evidence hierarchy? Explain. This oxygen therapy study falls in the level one of the evidence hierarchy. The study included a systemic review with meta-analysis, reviewed 9 different studies, and used randomized control trials. To conclude each study, they used quantitative data.
This study had many clinical studies, which provides enough evidence to make changes in respiratory therapy and nursing practices. Article 2APA reference: Ang Peng, W., Walid Kassab, Y., Mohamed, A. L.
, & Abdul Qader, A. M. (2018).
Beyond conventional therapies: Complementary and alternative medicine in the management of hypertension: An evidence-based review. Pakistan Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 31(1), 237-244.Is this study quantitative or qualitative? How do you know? This study is a quantitative research study. This study emphasizes on objective measures, statistical and mathematical tools to derive results.
The study describes the relationship among cause and effect with the problem and its influences. This study reviews the management of hypertension, by providing the root and outcome of the use of complementary and alternative medicine. Where does your study fall on the levels of evidence hierarchy? Explain. This conventional therapy study falls in the level one and level two of the evidence hierarchy, which also includes a quasi-randomized process.
The study provided 23 publications which have remained identified and selected, and 15 of these were systematic reviews and/or meta-analysis. A few of the studies involved melatonin, meditation, vitamin D, vitamin C, monounsaturated fatty acids, dietary amino acids, chiropractic, osteopathy, folate to name a few found evidence which has reduced hypertension. The studies provided enough information about randomization and power analysis.
Outcomes from this review showed that positive non-conventional therapies possibly will be effective in treating hypertension and improving cardiac function.
