One of the most trending and hot topics of many centuries ago up until this current time is prostitution.
By the word itself, we can say that it is an activity in which there is a provision of sexual acts in exchange for money. Moreover, the fact that it will have a gain in a form of money, it can vary depending on what kind of services does the prostitute exhibits. By definition, prostitution involves the selling of sex.
This means that money is the key feature of prostitution. As such, money is also the major motivation for women who become prostitutes, as most of them come from low-income backgrounds. For indoor workers, and especially call girls, prostitution is a potentially well-paying occupation. Streetwalkers hardly get rich from prostitution and suffer the many problems, but prostitution still provides them a source of income that they are unlikely to receive through legal occupations because they have few marketable job skills (M Libraries).Prostitution is defined as a criminal act that includes the trade, barter, or exchange of sexual acts with the hopes of the receipt of economic gain or opportunity. The sexual acts expressed within legislation addressing the act of prostitution can include copulation, stimulation, or intercourse. The notion of ‘gain’ expressed in the definition of prostitution may vary in its classification, due to the fact that the implicit nature of any ‘gain’ will itself vary with regard to personal circumstance case-by-case basis.

As for me I would not let it be legalized due to some reasons. For the ones who are practicing it, it might sound to them as a rightful act because they have their own motives on why they are doing it. The root cause for this could be traced based on their personal struggles. But as to the standard norms set by the society, it can be viewed as deviant and not acceptable.Prostitution as a form of deviance in Sociology, the term deviance refers to all violations of social rules, regardless of their seriousness (Essentials of Sociology 136). Deviance is an individual or organizational behavior that violates societal norms and is usually accompanied by negative reactions from others. According to a sociologist S. Becker, he stated that it is not the act itself that makes an action deviant, but rather how society reacts to it.
A particular state of being that has been labeled as being deviant in the U.S. is prostitution.
Prostitution is the direct selling of sexual acts for financial gains (Bartleby, 2016).There are certain reasons why I am not with the legalization of prostitution. The first reason why it should not be legalized is that it is morally wrong. Some (not all) cultures and religions believe prostitution to be morally wrong. These cultures and religions typically believe that people should only have sex with people that they are married to.
This belief is extremely controversial and inconsistent. The second point is that it is degrading. Prostitution is considered degrading to everyone involved. The third reason would be for forced economic reasons. Many prostitutes do not choose their profession; but rather, some prostitutes are forced into the profession because of economic needs with no or few alternatives. The fourth reason would be human trafficking. Many prostitutes are forced into the profession by others; and therefore, prostitution is not their freedom of choice.
The fifth reason is violence. Prostitution has very high rate violence when compared to other professions even where prostitution is legal. The sixth reason is diseases. Prostitution promotes the spread of diseases, since not everyone uses protections. The seventh reason is social instability. Legalized prostitution results with a higher rate of unmarried men. Furthermore, legalized prostitution increases the rate of husbands cheating on their wives (Phil for Humanity, 2008).
According to Dr. Marshall B. Clinard of the University of Wisconsin, prostitution is opposed for five reasons. First, the degradation of women is involved.
Second, is the threat to public health because of transmission of venereal disease. Third, the effect on general law enforcement through police protection that includes protection of prostitutes who steal from their patrons and use narcotics. Fourth, the effect on marital relations where recourse is had to prostitutes. Finally, the patronage of prostitutes by young persons, soldiers in particular, and its effect on national values (Sexual Deviation in American Society 168).
