Over in the event of killing someone.

Over this past year there’s been 102 unarmed black people shot dead by police officers for an unpractical reason. As I sat down to start this paper I started researching all the shootings that have accorced this past year of police brutally killing unarmed people of color for example, “Dallas police fire officer charged with fatally shooting man in his apartment, Tue September 25, 2018”). Which lead me to my topic question of what goes on through an officer’s mind in the event of killing someone. Can it be the result of a mental disorder that they have and possibly don’t know of? I did some of my own thinking and I found it crazy to believe how a person call kill someone and not have problems after and or before. Although many people might disagree and take offense to me saying that it might be the answer of many of the killings from now and then.

Who knows if most people are innocent and killed because they were scared, scared people might have suffered from anxiety. Who knows if they were abused and the only way to feel like they are in control of something is by being a cop and or if they had a rough childhood and maybe they got bullied by black people and started having a lot of hate for them and they told them selves that when they become older they’ll kill all black people and that was how they started hating them. It could also be that they were suicidal and wanted to kill innocent people so they could go to jail, it doesn’t seem reasonable but who knows what goes on through people’s minds. I was pretty interested in finding out and doing research about what goes on through someone’s head in the event of killing a person specifically a cops. Before I wanted to become a RN I wanted to become a criminal psychologist until I read all the stories about how they end up getting stalked and killed.

My uncle is one and when he went out to buy ties he could not buy a regular one because if the criminals were to try and choke him they could easily do it.During my research on this question I came across an article that talked about how when cops kill most of the time it’s because they feel as if they are doing the right thing and protecting our state. Another article stated that most of the killings that cops do are towards white teenagers which is complete bs, if you go on all the killings that happened throughout 2013-2018 have been mostly of the african descent. As I was doing even more research I realized that In the United States police play a very important role in many of the U.S. citizens today, they’re here to serve and protect us from the brutal world out there and sometimes that’s not the case. Americans nowadays are brainwashed in thinking that police are here to protect us, save us, and to be a hero to us and when in all reality police are here trying to make arrests and enforce the laws on everyone treating them as if they were animals. Police often overstep the authority and began to start acting as if they were big and bad and above everyone.

Police brutality has been going on all through the years but have been showing up even more throughout the years starting in 2013, the start of a program called “Black lives matter”.And with the rise of police brutality happening more and more people have the right to assemble together and promote and protect human rights through protests speeches and much more. It’s being even more widely spread because of the growth of social media. It’s been more common to see Many officers also have been using racial profiling against people, this is demonstrated in some of the recent white cop/black man shootings. Innocent black men from the ages of 16-19 have been killed in the hands of a white policeman.

Some people may argue and say that there’s no racial profiling and that the criminal rates in black men especially black teenagers have just went up throughout time. Black teenagers were three times more likely to commit murders compared to white teenagers similar to their age. On September 14,2018 an unarmed black man was shot dead by his Dallas neighbor who happened to be a white female cop.

Mr.Jean a 26 year old black male was in his apartment when his neighbor (white female cop) claimed to believe that he was breaking into her apartment that’s when she fired her gun at him twice shooting him in his torso. He was pronounced dead at the hospital and made a everyone in Dallas question what really happened. All these deaths usually happen because they’re walking while black, shopping while black, eating while black, driving while black, and sadly for Mr.Jean it’s at home being black. As I was doing research I realized that In the United States police play a very important role in s smany of the U.S. citizens today, they’re here to serve and protect us from the brutal world out there and sometimes that’s not the case.

Throughout my whole research process I have not seen anything relating to the psychology of police brutality I personally think we should be more aware of that because there are mental disorders that should be paid more attention to and they’re innocent people going to jail for mental disorders that they can control without help. I have also learned that there is a lot of hatred in this world with the color of your skin and I don’t think that’s right I don’t think the color of your skin matters in any situation due to the stressful nature of their occupations officers need better access to mental health services and treatments to improve their health and help their anxiety during their jobs. Every day they risk their lives to keep the peace and protect our neighborhoods from criminal. Our nation’s law-enforcement is one of the toughest jobs in the nation and with that they should have the top mental health treatments out there. And it is congress’s Job to help out the men and women in red and blue.

I’ve also came to the realization that not saying they try to defend white people but it sure looks like that, they’re making it seem like white people are perfect angels and black people are monsters. Recently a post on Instagram was shared where the people looked up what white meant in the dictionary and it said pure, angelic, happy, and when they looked up the word black it said evil, mean, negative and I feel that in our society people still think that about black people and other colored people. Being a person of color especially Latina the typical stereotype is that all teens get pregnant early don’t go to college and end up living a screwed up life in which I personally don’t like being looked at like.
