PART B: MAIN ELEMENTSPlot – the story is about the Hunger Games where two tributes from each of the 12 districts aged 12-18 are randomly chosen and forced to participate. They are put into an arena and fight for their lives, the last one who is left standing is declared the winner.
The Capitol does this annually to remind the Districts of their defeat against them and the whole thing is televised all across the Districts and the Capitol. In the 74th Hunger Games Katniss’s younger sister Primrose, gets chosen as the female tribute for District 12 and Katniss quickly volunteers to take her place. Katniss and Peeta are the tributes of District 12 and must work together to survive.Setting – the story takes place in Panem. Panem is divided into 12 Districts and the Capitol. All the Districts provide different resources to the Capitol such as lumber.
The higher the District number gets, the poorer that District is. District 12 is where Katniss lives and it has the worst living conditions in Panem. The Hunger Games takes place in the Capitol where an arena is located. The arena features a cornucopia, the centre of the arena and many forests, hills and lakes. Characters:Katniss Everdeen – a young sixteen year old girl that is strong and has long brown hair. Katniss lives in District 12 whose life revolves around hunting. She needs to hunt in order to provide her and her family with food.
Katniss is the protagonist in the story and the female tribute for District 12. Katniss is resourceful and has good survival skills, which helps her in the Games. Peeta Mellark – a sixteen year old boy that has a muscular build with blonde hair. Peeta is the son of a baker and he is selfless and kind, by providing Katniss with bread when they do not have any food to eat, which led him to get beat up by his mother.
Peeta is the male tribute for District 12 and has a close relationship with Katniss throughout the Games. Haymitch Abernathy -Conflicts: Climax: the climax occurs when an announcement comes up changing the rules yet again. There could now only be one winner. This will force Katniss and Peeta to fight each other so that one will be victorious and go back home to their District, while the other will be dead.
Resolution: Katniss and Peeta decides to commit suicide together instead of fighting against each other. They can do this by eating the poisonous berries they have gathered. However, before they were able to do this, they were stopped and both declared the winners, because the Capitol would rather have two winners than dead winners.
