The War of 1812 was an even in early American history that helped to shape America for the better, today. The War of 1812 was not just one battle though, there were many battles and the war took place over two years due to many problems caused by Britan. One “game changing” event from the War of 1812 was that the federaalist party was brought to an end due to the Hartford Convention. Another element of the war that has had an effect on America is that more land was gained and a sense of nationalism was obtained. The last component helping to frame America was the Monroe Doctrine was established in 1823. The War of 1812 changed America in the ways of, the federalist party being abolished, the nation growing not only land wise but also nationalism growing, and the Monroe Doctrine being established.
The term “federalist” was created after federalsim was created as a compromise of James Madison’s proposal about the Articles of Confederation in 1787. Ever since 1787, the federalists had been around since then, but would soon be stopped as an effect of the War of 1812. The Hartford Convention was held in 1814, and consisted of federalists from New England states wanting to still posses peace with Britain. However,
