This play is a love and tragedy story. This play covers the tragic hero, pathos and what they have suffered from. It is not just a tragedy because both of the main characters die. It is a tragedy because they are in an impossible, no-win situation.
Antony and Cleopatra are in love with each other also each is the other’s weakness. Antony, a once-great man, meets his doom in a spectacular way. He believes that he is capable of so much more than he can actually handle.The final element is suffering. Where Cleopatra was forced to kill herself and gives a speech while she was dying. She was describing how she’d meet Antony, which unfortunately was already killed by him. Cleopatra reference to Octavius luck shows that killing herself will make her able to defeat him.
She refused to live and allow him to march her through Rome in triumph. Cleopatra was trying to secure her position on the throne by having an affair with Antony even though she loved him, but then she realized herself stuck in the war between Octavius and Antony. She tries to parley with him to save her son, and her children with Antony
