When thinking about what Star Wars movie I would want to do, for the analytical review it was easy for me to decide. Out of the original trilogy, to me, the best movie is Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. Taken from the story by George Lucas, who writes all the Star Wars movies, was directed by Irvin Kershner and script was written by Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan.
Mong critics, this was the most favored. Fun fact: The film was easily selected in to be kept by the Library of Congress as part of its National Film Registry in 2010. The film continues the struggles of the Rebel Alliance against the Galactic Empire.
During the film, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Princess Leia are being chased across space by Darth Vader and his evil forces. During this, Luke Skywalker begins his Jedi training with Yoda, after an instruction from Obi-Wan Kenobi’s spirit for him to do so. In an emotional and an almost near-death confrontation with Darth Vader, Luke is presented with an awful truth and must face his destiny. Now, there are many tales from myths, to religion to stories that have a similar theme. The hero that rises from nothing. The boy that turns into a man. He faces evil and wins but loses many things along the way. Three years after what happened in New Hope, The Rebel Alliance has been forced to leave its base on Yavin 4 and make a new one on the Icey planet of Hoth.
An Imperial Star Destroyer, sent out by the Sith Lord Darth Vader, continuing his journey to find Luke Skywalker, he then launches thousands of probe droids across the galaxy, one of which lands on Hoth and begins its survey of the planet. Luke Skywalker, on patrol astride his tauntaun, di. After reporting to comrade Han Solo that he’ll investigate the site, Luke is knocked out cold by a deadly wampa.
When Luke fails to report in at Echo Base Han solo and priness Leia are worried gone for a while, Han Solo goes out to search for him in a snow storm. After waking up, Luke finds himself hanging upside down in a cave; his eyes open to the sight of a snow wampa eating his tauntaun. Lukes lightsaber has fallen out of his holster and into the snow.
Using the power of the Force, Luke is able to pull his lightsaber out of the snow and into his hand. After he turns it on, he cuts himself free and cuts off the attacking wampa’s arm just in time, running out of the cave and escaping into the snow storm on the planet Hoth.Luke tries to make his way to Echo Base on foot during the blizzard, but he finds himself lost in the blizzard and collapses in the snow surely to freeze to death. Suddenly, he sees the spirit of Obi-Wan Kenobi appear in front of him him. Ben tells Luke to go to Dagobah to undergo learn some training from Yoda, a Jedi Master. After the spirit disappears, Han solo gets there to find an almost dead Luke, who is mumbling about about Ben, Yoda and Dagobah. At this point, the tauntaun that Han solo was riding on falls to the ground because of the extreme cold. To keep Luke from freezing to death during the blizzard, Han uses Luke’s lightsaber to cut open the dead tauntaun and puts Luke in it to save his life.
Han then sets about making a shelter that he and Luke will sleep in during the night. They are forced to stay out during the night as the aircraft called the snow speeders that the Rebels use for flight had not yet been made yet useable for the extremely low temperatures of the Hoth night and are making it unable to mount a rescue operation to save Han and Luke from the snow stormThe next morning, Rebel Pilots flying the their planes set out from Echo Base to search for Luke and Han Solo. Zev Senesca, one of the pilots in Rogue Group, contacts Han over his radio and they are both rescued. When they are taken back to base, Luke is put in a for healing tank under the care of a medical droid called 2-1B.Princess Leia tries to urge Han Solo to stay with the rebels, and when Han Solo assumes it is because she has feelings for him, Leia gets mad and hurls insults at him calling him a “stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf herder.”During this, the probe droid has spotted signs that show that Hoth is inhabitable and sends a signal to the Imperial fleet, shortly before being destroyed by Han Solo and Chewbacca in the millennium falcon.
Admiral Kendal Ozzel dismisses the information as evidence of smugglers and nothing more. During this, Darth Vader knows better than that, and orders the fleet to go to Hoth. General Rieekan, realises the Empire is probably aware of where they are, orders the evacuation of Echo Base.Darth Vader and the Imperial forces sets his corse to go to the Hoth system to set up the attack. The rebels load any equipment they have onto transports and plan an attack to secure their escape.
Luke, now fully healed from the Wampa attack on Hoth and subsequent exposure, says goodbye to Chewbacca and Solo, who have decided to leave the rebals to repay their debt to Jabba the Hutt. As the Imperial forces enter the Hoth system, General Rieekan orders to use all power to the energy shield that is protecting the base from orbital destruction. Aboard the star destroyer- Executor, General Maximillian Veers tells Vader that Admiral Ozzel has come from lightspeed too close to Hoth. Ozzel meant to catch the Rebels off guard before they could set up their defenses.
However, Vader realizes that the Rebels have realized to the fleet’s showing. During video communication, Vader chokes Ozzel using the forch and kills him to death for letting him down then makes Captain Firmus Piett the new Admiral right then. As Vader ordered earlier, the Imperial forces on the ground, commanded by General Veers, land outside the Rebels’ shield and march on land to destroy the power generator, hopefully to set the rebals back and hopefully end them.Princess Leia tells the Rebel fighters the plan on the evacuation to leave Hoth two to three ships at a time past the shield to a point where they can all meet, which is beyond the outer rim of the planet. Rieekan turns off the the shields to fire the cannon at one of the Imperial Star Destroyers letting the first ships to escape. The Rebel pilots assigned to take on the Imperial ground attack leave the Hoth base for the soon coming battle against heavily armed Imperial forces, who are armed with huge AT-STs that look like chickens and huge AT-AT walkers, led by General Veers.The Rogue squad group led by Luke commences the attack. Luke soon realizes the AT-AT’s armor is very strong and blasters wont work on it and decides to use harpoons and tow cables to tangle up the walker’s legs, so it will fall.
Luke’s gunner on his ship Dak Ralter is hit and killed during the first approach. This leaves Wedge Antilles and Wes Janson to do anything. They manage to make one AT-ATs fall, which is destroyed as Rebel troops attack it till it explodes. The main AT-AT prepares to take their aim at the Rebel base’s power generator that is the main one they use.
All of a sudden, Luke’s speeder is shot down by the Imperials, and crashes in the snow. Luke escapes before an AT-AT can step on his ship and completely crush it. The Rebel base is now under attack and Imperial snowtroopers have come into the base, forcing Han solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and C-3PO to escape.
Leia gives the command to the base.Luke, meanwhile, manages to destroy another AT-AT by using his cable to pull him up and his lightsaber to get into the bottom of the transport, tossing in a detonator, and then jumping from the cable as a series of explosions ruin the AT-AT. The Rebels result in major deaths as the result of the battle. The main AT-AT gets within shooting range of the power generator, then blasts and destroys it to pieces. Han solo, Princess Leia, and their group, now realizing they are being followed by Darth Vader who has arrived on Hoth, make their way to the Millennium Falcon in time to leave. As the Falcon flies off, Luke reaches R2-D2 and his X-wing starfighter and leaves Hoth with both. Changing course from the point they were supposed to meet, he sets his coordinates for Dagobah.
Han solo and his crew are pursued by tie fighters. Flipping the lever to take them to lightspeed, Han solo realizes with help from C3PO that the hyperdrive has been damaged and won’t work. While trying to fix the hyperdrive system, Han solo enters an asteroid field to escape his pursuers. He somehow manages to land his ship inside a cavern on one of the larger asteroids to rest and to fix his ship.Luke lands on the wetland like planet Dagobah, landing his X-wing in the swamp in the process. There, he discovers a small and unique figure who fiddles around with Luke’s stuff. After Luke tells him that he is looking for a Jedi Master, the little person offers to take Luke to Master Yoda. Back on the millennium Falcon, while princess Leia tries to make repairs, Han tries to make a move on on the Princess, pulling himself close to Leia and into a passionate kiss.
When C3PO arrives, Leia withdraws and walks away. Darth Vader orders all of the of Death Squadron to begin searching the asteroid field to find the Millennium Falcon. As the search continues, the dangers of the asteroid field begin to take their tol on the imperial army an asteroid smashes into the tower of a Star Destroyer, and we guess killing all that is on there. On the Executor, Darth Vader talks with the captains of the other ships. One officer, Captain Lorth Needa, tells Darth Vader that they should think about how much damage they have taken.
Darth Vader firmly replies that they will continue the search to look for Luke. Not too long afterward, Admiral Piett tells Vader that Emperor Palpatine commands he make contact immediately. Vader tells the commanders to get out of the asteroid field for a clear transmission. In his room, Darth Vader receives a holographic message from Palpatine, whi is also known as Darth Sidious, who alerts the Darth Vadar to a new enemy who could ruin their empire, who is Luke Skywalker. Vader suggests that if Luke could be turned, against the rebals and join the empire he could be a good ally to the Sith. Lord Sidious agrees, saying that Luke would be great to have and asks his apprentice if he could be taken and persuaded and Darth Vader states Luke will join the Empire, or he will die. Instead of being taken straight to Yoda, Luke is brought to the creature’s hut. Luke asks to go on to find Yoda ASAP, but the small person only responds with “Not far.
Yoda not far.” The figure then declares that Luke lacks patience, but the voice of Kenobi tells the figure that the boy will learn patience if he wants to be trained. Only then does Luke realize that the small green figure is Yoda. Yoda asks Kenobi if he will finish the training if he begins, then suspects that Luke will someday lose himself to fear.The next day, while cleaning these creatures called “Mynocks” off the millennium Falcon, Han Solo and his crew are forced to escape something that turns out to be a huge space slug which lives on the asteroid that they happened to land on. Meanwhile, Luke begins a hard time consuming training regime from Yoda which includes moral lessons about the dangers of the dark side of the Force in hopes to help luke not come to what yoda fears will happen to him in the future. That lessoncomes to play when luke is told to enter a cave that has a lot of the Dark Side’s power. Ignoring that Yoda told him to leave his weapons, Luke enters the cavern armed.
Once inside, he has a vision of himself getting mad while confronting Darth Vader and cutting his head off. Then Darth vadars makes explodes and its lukes face that is underneath. It is a warning that if Luke battles Vader with no control over his emotions then he will become Darth Vader and turn to yhe dark side Dark Side. Back on the Star Destroyer, Vader enlists the bounty hunters, Boba Fett, Dengar, IG-88, Bossk, 4-LOM and Zuckuss to find the Millennium Falcon for a “substantial reward”.
One of the Imperial commanders finally spots the Falcon, leading to another pursuit which results in the Falcon eluding the Empire by making the insanely counter intuitive move of attacking the lead Star Destroyer. However, at the last moment, the ship veers off and secretly attaches itself to the rear of the cruiser’s command tower, which is not extensively covered by sensors, making it appear to have vanished from the Destroyer’s point of view.
