It is a permanent separation of couple(Vocabulary Dictionary,n.d). A couple that is unhappy with each other, file a divorce to dissolve their marriage contract. The decision is made mainly because of Infidelity, money, lack of communication, lack of intimacy, lack of equality, constant arguing, weight gain, not being prepared for marriage, and abuse (Warren, 2018). According to Hundley and Santos (2015), Philippines is the last country in the world where the divorce is illegal. It is the last holdout of staunchly catholic countries that denies divorce to the majority of its citizens. Philippine laws only allow unhappy married couples to end their union through a legal separation or civil annulment. Legal separation does not allow either party to remarry while annulment is very expensive.

(Santos, 2018) Annulment is different from divorce. Annulment is a legal decree that a marriage is null and void. Annulments are granted when a court makes a finding that marriage is invalid. While a divorce ends a legally valid marriage, an annulment treats the marriage as if it never existed (Justia, 2018).
