WWI in Canada in 1914

If I were to be a young person in Canada in 1914, I wouldn’t have enlisted for the war. This is because all of the hardships endured by the soldiers was not worth it. What I mean is that, in the text it is written that young men were mostly interested in joining the army because the country was going back into a war after 100 years. The reason why this wasn’t a good idea is because they didn’t know what they would face. The trenches they made got filled with water, which made them gut mud and dirt on their clothes and faces. Also, there were diseases that were being spread due to the lack of cleanliness, food and shelter. On November 11, 1918, over 66,000 gave their lives and more than 172,000 were wounded. WWI consisted of a total of 65-million men with 30 nations involved.
