To respect everyone and to not judge someone by the way they appear. In Maycomb County, Alabama Dolphus Raymond is known as a “drunk”. He has a black wife and mixed children. Dolphus is a wealthy white man. The county believes that the brown paper sack he carries around has whiskey in it. The average white man would never interact with a black man so he pretends to be a “drunk” for his cover-up when he actually drinks Coca-Cola.

He as well as Mr. Finch believe that black people should be treated differently. Scout soon realizes the reason that Mr. Raymond drinks the Coca-Cola in the bag and acts as a drunk so he can be surrounded by the blacks with out the county judging him for it. Scout also comes to learns that there is unfair racism and persecution if you are black.
